How do I apply?
Lake Highland’s application process allows you to track your application from beginning to end, including scheduling necessary appointments and submitting requested admission documents. If you have any questions, we are here to help every step of the way. Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are open. Apply now!
When should we begin the application process? When is the application process closed? When are we alerted to an admission decision?
We open applications for the following academic year on September 1 of the year prior. After that, families are welcome to apply before one of our admission deadlines listed on our Key Admission Dates page. Admission decision deadlines may also be found on the same page.
Is there an application fee?
Are teacher recommendations required for all applicants?
For applicants to prekindergarten through 5th grades, we require one recommendation from the homeroom teacher. For applicants to grades 6-12, we require three recommendations: one from the current English teacher; one from the current Mathematics teacher; and one from the current Principal or Guidance Counselor. The recommendation forms are sent out via email through the online admission portal, which parents gain access to following an application to the school.
What tests are required for admission?
Applicants to prekindergarten through 1st grade must register for admission testing at Lake Highland. Testing slots will be available for registration beginning in October via your admission portal.
Applicants to 2nd–4th grade are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). We encourage applicants to take the ISEE test on our campus on one of our testing days in January.
Students applying for 5th-12th grade are required to submit ISEE, PSAT, or SAT results and may complete the ISEE test at any convenient ISEE testing location.
You may register your child for this exam at www.iseetest.org. To ensure we receive your child’s results, remember to include Lake Highland’s school code, 101294, when registering for the exam.
You can learn about grade-level-specific admission testing requirements on the Apply Now page.
Do I need to come to LHP for an interview? What if I am unable to interview personally on-campus?
Upper School applicants are required to complete an interview with the Admission Team as part of the admission process. All applicant interviews are conducted by phone. Appointments may be scheduled via the admission portal.

How many students are enrolled at Lake Highland?
Are uniforms required for all students? Where do we purchase uniforms? Where do we purchase Spirit Day attire?
Uniforms are required of all students in Prekindergarten through 12th grade. Our uniform provider is Lands' End. Uniform information can be found on the Lands' End website. On Fridays, students are allowed to dress in “Spirit Day” clothing. Spirit day shirts and Lake Highland outerwear can be purchased at our school store, The Source.
Does the school offer before- or after- care?
Before School: While Lake Highland does not offer “before” care, students in the Lower School may arrive at school as early as 7:20 a.m. and will remain under supervision until they can go to class. Students in the Middle School may arrive at school as early as 7:30 a.m. and remain under supervision until they can head to their first-period classrooms. Generally, students in the Upper School may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m.
After School: Aftercare options are available for Lower School and the Middle School until 5:45 p.m. Upper School students are allowed to remain on campus and in supervised areas as late as 6:00 p.m.
Does the school provide busing options?
Students who require busing options to get to and from school are encouraged to contact Maya’s Transportation or find alternate modes of transportation. As a school policy, we do not allow ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft to drop off or pick up students from the school.
What lunch options are available?
At the prekindergarten level, students will bring their lunches from home each day. From kindergarten through grade 12, students are given the option of bringing lunches from home or signing up for a meal plan. Learn more about dining services, meal plan options, and FLIK, our food service provider.
Are there religious requirements at Lake Highland?
Lake Highland’s student body comprises many different faiths, and we welcome families of all religions to the school. Though there are no compulsory religious requirements at Lake Highland (such as mandatory chapel periods or religious classes), as part of our Mission Statement, we work to instill in our students the lessons of nine tenets of Christianity (the “Fruit of the Spirit”), which we believe are widely accepted values by people of many faiths. We believe each student is a unique child of God and that every child can thrive in an atmosphere of love, concern, and mutual respect.
Where do Highlander graduates attend college?
Lake Highland boasts a 100% matriculation rate for our graduating seniors. Our students matriculate to colleges and universities from coast to coast... and internationally, as well! Learn more about College & Career at LHP.
How can parents get involved with the school?
What organizations accredit Lake Highland?
Does LHP accept state funding, grants, or vouchers?
As a private, independent school, LHP does not accept any type of federal or state funding, grants, or vouchers. LHP’s Board of Trustees leadership has affirmed our school’s desire to remain independent in our operation. However, Lake Highland offers need-based financial aid to qualified families with students in grades 6-12.

Does LHP accept international students?
Lake Highland does accept international students. Our SEVIS specialist, Brooke Adams, is also available to speak with you regarding international admission. You can contact Brooke at badams@lhprep.org or (407) 206-1900 ext. 3324.

What type of visa do I need to study at Lake Highland?
Lake Highland is able to accommodate international students in possession of a green card (dependent on a parent’s appropriate visa), or seeking to apply and obtain an F-level visa.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate international students who don’t possess a green card, are not dependent on a parent’s appropriate visa, or who are planning to study in the U.S. while in possession of a B-, C-, D-, or I-level visa.
How do I receive an I-20?
Once accepted and enrolled, Lake Highland’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) issues your student an I-20, which will allow you to formally request an F-level visa for your student. The information needed by the PDSO is required prior to an admission decision, allowing the process to move with relative ease once an acceptance has been made.
I already have an I-20. How do I transfer my I-20 to Lake Highland?
Am I required to have my international transcript translated/evaluated?
Yes, Lake Highland requires all international transcripts to be translated and evaluated by a third-party assessor, preferably Course-by-Course. Transcripts that are already in English must still be evaluated. International applicants may use a third-party assessor of their choice. We recommend Josef Silney & Associates and World Education Services.
What tests are required for international admission?
All applicants to Prekindergarten through 1st grade are required to take an “in-house” admission test at Lake Highland. Applicants to grades 2 through 12 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). To register for an upcoming ISEE, please visit the ISEE website.
Additionally, international student applicants to grades 9 through 12 are required to submit recent TOEFL (16+ years old) or TOEFL Junior (11 through 15 years old), or Duolingo English Test results to demonstrate English proficiency.
