Empowering Excellence

Lake Highland is dedicated to cultivating the leaders of tomorrow. Upper School academics emphasize challenge, ingenuity, deep learning, and perseverance. Our goal is to create environments where students learn to serve, lead, and grow with passion and commitment. Through innovation and active learning, we focus on developing the whole child — preparing students academically, socially, and emotionally for success in their college years and beyond.

Social Studies

Through a skills-based social studies curriculum, students investigate historical events, psychology, government, personal finance, and economics. Freshmen are introduced to world history and progress to American history as sophomores. Continuing through the study of American government during their junior and senior years, students expand their knowledge of the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual impacts of world events, global leaders, and innovators.

Engaging and rigorous instruction equips students with valuable linguistic skills as well as the cultural adaptability to prepare for a globally connected future. The program also offers students the opportunity to develop a comprehensive awareness of local and global citizenship and exposes them to the benefits of being multilingual, which offers them diverse career opportunities and life-enriching experiences.
